Sentimental Productions has updated the 20 videos in its popular sing-along series to provide an option to display the lyrics of each song on the screen.
All DVDs in the Sentimental Sing-Along Collection have been re-mastered so that viewers can now decide whether to use song sheets or rely on the words on the screen.
"This is just another way for people to enjoy these all-time favorite American tunes, just like they've been doing for nearly 20 years," said Jim Delaney, Executive Producer of the series.
The continued widespread use of the DVDs reinforces their popularity. "The talented singers and musicians outdid themselves in turning in performances that, like the songs, have truly stood the test of time," Delaney said.
The first three Sentimental Sing-Alongs were produced in 1998. Since then, 17 more have been added, including Volume 20, The Best of the Collection. All the videos are about 35 minutes in length, except Volume 20, which is about an hour.
From the beginning, Sentimental Productions chose to follow a theme for each volume. The pattern was followed throughout the series, starting with the initial program's alliterative title, "Songs of Romance & Ragtime."
The move to include on-screen lyrics comes as preparation continues for another step anticipated in the not-too-distance future: digital delivery. While the company expects DVDs (and the CD-Rom discs containing the lyrics) to be around for many years, it would not be practical to provide them each time a Sing-Along video is viewed digitally.
